Aishwarya Rai and Naveen Andrews will be once again sharing the screen space after Bride and Prejudice.
Provoked has already been screened at international film festivals like the Cannes and IIFA. This film is loosely based on the true story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia who killed her abusive husband.
The movie will be releasing for the Indian audience on the 6th of April.
PROVOKED is about a young woman who gets married to a man in London. She has a dream of a great life ahead but it is short-lived since the man [Naveen Andrews] turned out to be an alcoholic who takes sadistic pleasure in assaulting her physically and mentally.
And now there is only way for her to escape - death - which could be hers or herr tormentor’s!
She kills her husband and is jailed. But ultimately the truth prevails and she is freed by the judicial system. Reunited with her children, she is even given an award by the UK Prime Minister’s wife for her crusade against domestic violence.
Also starring Nandita Das, Robbie Coltrane and Miranda Richardson, PROVOKED has music by A.R. Rehman.
