The McDowell Indian Derby 2008 was a great success with more than 25000 people from all walks of life attending the event. Mr & Mrs J.K. Rattonsey won the prestigious race bagging prize money of Rs 83.25 lakhs. McDowell Indian Derby introduced a unique contest wherein the spectators nominated the first four placing of the McDowell Indian Derby. The winner won a C Class Mercedes Benz, the grandest prize ever given away on a race day. Mrs. Tasneem Kutchwala was the lucky winner to drive home the Mercedes.
The Indian Derby 2008, now in its 66th year is presented this year by Black Dog - the leading scotch whisky brand from United Spirit Limited. In addition to the racing extravaganza, with a view to bringing in the entire family for a fun weekend at the Races, the sponsors supported the McDowell Indian Derby by creating an International Carnival, complete with Show Girls, Tribute Performers, Tarot Card readers, Tattoo artistes, and even a special kiddies corner.

Elated winner of Mercedes Mrs Tasneem Kutchwala said, “I am not a regular at the Derby but my husband is and infact that has been the reason for fights at home, but with this lucky charm – Mercedes Benz that I have won today will change everything in our lives and at home. I am extremely thankful to the McDowell Indian Derby for this great prize which is a dream come true.”
