Singh is Kinng breaks Box Office records
Producer Vipul Shah is all smiles. “It’s great that finally the industry has a film that is doing well at the box office. And it’s even more fantastic because the film happens to be Singh is Kinng. We are glad the audiences are loving the film,” says Shah.
Singh is Kinng struck gold in Mumbai – the mecca of Bollywood – on day one itself and the opening figures are said to as high as 1.50crore rupees. The film has done equally well up North. The figures by the end of Friday were close to 1 crore rupees.
But it’s not just India that is raking in the moolah for Vipul Shah.
The film is believed to have sold out for its paid preview on Thursday evening and was loved so much that this entire week is completely sold out in Lahore. There were reports of 2000 people had queued outside a theatre in Gujranwala, Pakistan only to return disappointed as the cinemas were running houseful. In fact late night shows at 1am are now being introduced in some theatres in Lahore to accommodate the fans who are eager to see the film.
A recent trend in the industry is for producers to organize paid previews for the public on a Thursday nights – a day before the film actually releases to the masses. Singh is Kinng has created a record there too. It netted 50 lakhs through its 155 paid previews across India.
Vipul Shah is said to have created another record in terms of prints released. Singh is Kinng was released with 1800 prints – the largest ever done so.
